Las Colinas closes out year long 50th anniversary festivities with An Illuminating Celebration

GLOW CANALSIDE CELEBRATION

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20TH AND SATURDAY OCTOBER 21ST

MANDALAY CANAL

On Friday, October 20th, and Saturday, October 21st, thousands of Las Colinas residents, employees, business owners, and visitors gathered to close out a year of festivities celebrating Las Colinas’ 50th anniversary. The culmination of this golden year was the GLOW Canalside Celebration. This immersive event brought together the best of theater, light, music, art, and entertainment to conclude Las Colinas’ golden year with a bang.

The Mandalay Canal was transformed with lighting and sound for the event. The tree lighting and speakers are permanent installations and will be activated for special events and holidays.

Attendees never knew what would pop up next as they strolled along the canal. From an LED drumline to illuminated robot characters and pop-up gondola performances by Moxie Anne and the Revelers Band, there was always something exciting to experience. On the Main Stage; Remy Reilly, Nick Parr, Ishaara and DJ Babey Drew kept the audience on their feet, dancing the night away.

Lumin Fitness kept the party going over at Gables Water Street with their Silent Disco. The Silent Disco provided visitors with headphones to listen to top hits while a large LED screen tracked their movements, creating dancing shadows along the wall.

Gables Water Street served as the exclusive GLOW dining destination and GLOW Art Park. Illumiloti Ignisis by Boko Fine Art wowed attendees of all ages. These audience-powered florals spouted fire and were illuminated with lights from within the metal petals as they floated in the Gables Water Street cove. On the lawn, visitors pedaled to inflate and illuminate the Canopy, meant to resemble a forest canopy. This installation was created by Pneuhaus and Bike Powered Events. In the windows of a few storefronts in Gables Water Street, a mural illuminated by black lights hung in the windows. These murals were painted by Micavi Designs, who also created a special GLOW Garden with illuminated plants and a custom soundscape. Special thanks to our GLOW Art Park partners: Kimley-Horn, KOA Partners, Medical City Las Colinas, and Parmenter Realty Partners.

Although GLOW was free to attend, enhanced experiences were available to purchase. The official hotel partner, Omni Las Colinas Hotel hosted Lakeside Lounger packages, offering guests a VIP view of the fireworks along with gourmet food and beverages to enjoy. Attendees were able dine in the heart of GLOW during a special prix fixe dinner hosted on Saturday, October 21st at Venetian Terrace. The official maritime partner, Gondola Adventures offered cruises throughout the evening, giving riders a unique perspective of the festivities, including a front-row seat to the fireworks show.

Each night concluded with a jaw-dropping display of pyrotechnics produced by Illumination and Level5 Events. The unforgettable fireworks performance was set to music that represented Las Colinas and set the stage for the next 50 years.
