The Carpenter Cup inter-club golf competition made its highly anticipated return to the green on Thursday, July 23rd, bringing together the three premier golf clubs of Las Colinas for another round of spirited rivalry. Named in honor of Las Colinas founder Ben Carpenter, the tournament was originally introduced in 2007 and revived by the Las Colinas Association in 2023.
After the tournament was rescheduled from its original spring date due to weather, 24 players from each club braved the July heat to represent Hackberry Creek Country Club, Las Colinas Country Club and The Nelson Golf & Sports Club. Hosting the Carpenter Cup for the first time since its revival, The Nelson provided a premier experience from start to finish.
Ahead of the 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, players gathered for breakfast alongside the course’s legendary 9.5-foot bronze statue of Byron Nelson–a fitting reminder of the remarkable talent associated with the historic course. Not to be outdone by the midsummer temperatures, the players completed all 18 holes just in time to gather for lunch and the presentation of awards.
Hackberry Creek Country Club ultimately claimed the Carpenter Cup Champion Club title for the third time since the tournament’s 2023 revival.
About the competition:
Each club was represented by a team of 24 players competing in three-player groups. Every golfer was assigned an individual quota, and each club’s top 20 scores were combined to determine the 2026 Carpenter Cup Champion Club.
In conjunction with the team competition, all 72 golfers participated in an individual stroke-play tournament recognizing the overall Gross and Net champions.
