Excitement builds as Marathon date gets closer

From new shirts to a new course, there’s plenty of motivations to #runirving

IRVING, TX —  It’s March and that means the Irving Marathon is almost here. On March 28, runners will get to participate and have a unique running experience because of new factors.

This year, the Irving Marathon has a new USATF certified course that will take runners around Lake Carolyn and downtown Las Colinas, providing many chances for friends, family and the community, to cheer on their loved ones.

In addition to the new course, the marathon partnered with ViewSPORT® to provide runners with some of its sweat-activated apparel. Participants of any race will receive a ViewSPORT® sweat-activated shirt.

If you need any more motivation to join, the Irving Marathon is Baylor Scott and White’s Irving Foundation primary fundraiser for fighting childhood obesity.

Before the marathon there is another event as part of the running series: the St. Patrick’s Day 5K/10K on March 14. The series has provided runners the means to stay competitive and in shape leading up to the marathon. Registration is filling up fast, so visit irvingmarathon.com.

“Shout out to the Irving Marathon Run Series for a great event this past weekend,” Elizabeth James said on Instagram after finishing first place in the Love Run 10K race in February. “I’ll be back for another event in the future.”

Irving Marathon Group was founded eight years ago and is dedicated to raising awareness and fighting childhood obesity. Irving Marathon Group believes that through small steps in lifestyle change, community involvement and healthy relationships, we can reverse the trend of 35 percent of Texas adults combating obesity.
