SAFETY:  Holiday fun can be ruined quickly by Grinches that are out to steal your joy as well as your property! Make your holiday celebration one to remember for all the right reasons by following these safety tips:

Property Theft – Keep things out of the view! Don’t leave packages where they can be seen. It only takes seconds to break into a vehicle, walk into an open garage or lift that package off your porch! Hide your items, keep your garage shut and have packages delivered to the office or scheduled for when you are home with a required signature.

Stay in the Light—When you’re out shopping or meeting up with friends, park and walk in well-lit areas. Thieves prefer to work where they are not on display.

Do Not Advertise Vacations or Purchases— Going out of town for the holidays? Tell a trusted neighbor or friend; do not post it to your social media! You can always post your awesome pictures when you get home, as your friends may not be the only ones “liking” your photos! Have your mail held and put some lights on timers to give your home a lived-in look. When going out of town, you may notify LCA security for patrol to keep an extra eye out while you are away. You can contact LCA’s Security Services at 972-541-2345. You may also consider completing a “Vacation Watch Form” with the Irving Police Department online at their website: https://www.cityofirving.org/884/Vacation-Watch

Lastly, dispose of holiday packaging in a way that does not advertise the new gifts now in your home!

Arm Your Alarm When You’re Out and Check Your CamerasAlarms and camera systems are great when used! If your alarm system is monitored by LCA, call Dispatch and test your system at (972-541-1312) to make sure it is working as it should. Considering adding cameras, smoke detectors or having your alarm system serviced? ‘Tis the season to schedule! Need some help with the holiday security planning? Use LCA’s Security Services as your member resource; safety@lascolinas1.wpengine.com or 972.541.2345.

Have a happy and safe holiday season!
