Las Colinas Bowl-A-Thon raises over $25,000 for the Irving Family Advocacy Center

On Wednesday, September 14th, twenty eight bowling teams and their cheering squads descended upon Pinstack Las Colinas for some friendly competition in support of the Irving Family Advocacy Center. With all lanes sold out, dozens of volunteers and Stay & Play ticket holders, Pinstack was bustling with activity.

Two special teams participated this year: Bowl with the Blue and Stop, Drop, and Bowl (aka Pfaffs on Pfire).  These two team packages provided an opportunity for three participants each to bowl with Irving Police Chief Miller and Irving Fire Chief Conley alongside other talented and competitive police officers and firefighters.  The Pfaffs on Pfire team took the lead this year and were able to out bowl the Bowl with the Blue team!

Teams competed for best Best Team Shirt, Most Team Strikes, Best Team Name, Most Team Gutter Balls, Highest Score (individual) and the Community Award. The shelf worthy trophies were sponsored by NEC Corporation of America, Bowl-A-Thon’s Master of the Mantle sponsor. Award winners were:

Best Team Shirt – Grand Venetian Gangsters

Best Team Name – Livin’ on a Spare (Toyota Music Factory)

Most Team Gutter Balls – NEC Corporation of America

Highest score (Individual) – Matt Tungett with Strike Force Irving (Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau)

Community Award – Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau

While everyone enjoyed food, fun and fellowship, guests also participated in a Charity Prize Drawing sponsored by Neighborly. Over 6,000 entries were submitted and winners could take home one of twelve fantastic prizes including a one night stay at Omni Las Colinas with cabana rental, iFratelli pizza party for 20, Dallas Mavericks game tickets and more.

The night would not have gone as smoothly without the assistance of over 30 volunteers from the FAC and community. Volunteers were decked out in volunteer t-shirts and branded Bowl-A-Thon lanyards, thanks to American Solutions for Business, Bowl-A-Thon’s volunteer sponsor.

AlphaGraphics Irving was Bowl-A-Thon’s King Pin sponsor and matched team registration. The Nexstar Charitable Foundation presented a $2,500 check to the FAC during the event. Together with these generous donations, team registrations, Stay & Play ticket sales, and Charity Prize Drawing entries, the community collectively raised $25,800 for the Irving Family Advocacy Center.

The Irving Family Advocacy Center (FAC) functions in partnership with the City of Irving to provide specialized services to the city’s youth and families. These services include case management and free counseling for victims of crime, domestic violence and families with high-risk juveniles in family, couple or individual therapy settings, as well as education classes.
