National Tequila Day is Sunday, July 24th. Have you tasted the five different types of tequila? Whether you have a beginner’s palate or are an enthusiast with an acquired taste, be sure to educate yourself with the various distinctions prior to your journey with this exciting spirit.
Celebrate by trying these five different types of tequila at your favorite Las Colinas restaurant this weekend: Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, Extra Añejo, and Joven.
Blanco is an un-aged tequila bottled immediately following distillation. It works well in margaritas and palomas. Reposado means “rested” in Spanish. Reposados typically rest for 2-12 months in oak barrels and is best in margaritas, mixed drinks, served on the rocks (ice) or chilled.
Añejo is a mature tequila aged in oak barrels between one to three years with a unique warm and spicy flavor. Añejo tequila is best served neat or as an alternative for bourbon in cocktails.
Extra Añejo is aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels with hints of vanilla, caramel, or coconut. This tequila is best when sipped.
Joven is a blanco tequila blended with aged tequilas and are usually used in cocktails and mixed drinks.
Don’t forget to order the cheesy enchiladas and crispy tacos along with your classic margarita, paloma, or tequila flight. This is your guide on how to celebrate National Tequila Day in Las Colinas.
